The Uni-Pak Resin System is an innovative reusable packaging and shipping system featuring unparalleled strength and durability.
Designed and developed by Shuert Industries, located in Sterling Heights, Michigan, the Uni-Pak Resin System was created to replace wooden pallets, corrugated boxes, fiber drums, nylon bags, and other limited-life returnables.
“Conventional shipping, packaging and storage systems have a limited life and are usually used for just a handful of trips,” explains Lyle H. Shuert, president, Shuert Industries. “Our Uni-Pak Resin System, however, is designed for countless uses and years of service.”
The cost-saving economics of the Uni-Pak Resin System are substantial, and Shuert Industries has worked with market leaders to determine exactly what kind of long-term return an investment in the Uni-Pak Resin System generates.
“We think the payback will result after just the fourth or fifth use,” Shuert says. “And all of the subsequent reuses the Uni-Pak Resin System provides after the fourth or fifth trip will save our customers enormous replacement costs.
The Uni-Pak Resin System is comprised of some of the world’s most durable materials. Each system contains a specially fitted plastic top and pallet, and one collapsible plastic/fiberboard composite sleeve.
The Uni-Pak Resin System’s top and pallet are made from two sheets of a high-molecular weight, high-density polyethylene plastic. The twin-sheet vacuum thermal formed plastic top and steel-reinforced pallet utilize a premium resin, resulting in a product that is extremely durable and rigid, resistant to cracking, impact and weather.
The third component is a 1.25-inch thick fiberboard composite sleeve, designed for countless durable reuses. The sleeves are collapsible, and easily stored and repackaged for return shipment.
The Uni-Pak Resin System’s strength is unmatched by any product in the industry. It is designed to hold 36-cubic-feet of product with an 80-pounds-per-cubic-foot of bulk density. Shuert Industries has been able to fill its Uni-Pak Resin System containers with materials that exceed 80-pounds-per-cubic-foot of bulk density - - more than 2,800 pounds. Superior stacking and interlocking ability is another unique product advantage of the Uni-Pak Resin System. Shuert Industries has successfully stacked four fully loaded Uni-Pak Resin System containers on top of one another without any damage to the containers or product. And the Uni-Pak Resin System’s stackability provides a substantial cost savings as a result of improved utilization of warehouse space.
Because the Uni-Pak Resin System containers can be easily assembled and disassembled, labor costs can also be minimized. Although the Uni-Pak Resin System’s best environmental attribute is its reusable design, its plastic tops and pallets can be completely recycled once their estimated 5-10 year lifespan has ended.
